We recently heard that Panasonic has upgraded its popular SD-BMS105 bread machine. The novelty is called SD-BMT1000, and it’s a drop in the ocean, a beautiful purple color. Forget black, white and silver. It’s boring. Panasonic returned the car purple! And they have chosen an attractive, dark shade that is suitable for any kitchen, but also makes the kitchen countertop stand out. It is a brave choice and also a good choice of Panasonic.
If you’ve read our evaluation of the Panasonic SD-BMS105, you’ll know that we were happy with the ability to do cool things like udon and urine. We were also impressed by his ability to make bread – not only the expected wheat or wholemeal bread, but also rice and melon bread. It is the best bread making machine we have ever used and a very nice machine to do all kinds of things with. We used it to make udon, urine and pizza. It is so versatile that you can use it almost every day. Because it’s already a great machine, we wondered what it would look like compared to the new SD-BMT1000. In this overview we look at the Panasonic SD-BMT1000 in detail.

We picked up the Panasonic SD-BMT1000 from Amazon.com. Like the SD-BMS105, it is only sold in Japan, so you’ll probably have to find it online. Sales of Panasonic SD-BMT1000 started in September 2014.
Another small grill on this cooker – all instructions and recipes are written in Japanese. We were already familiar with the old model, so our learning curve was low. But in the beginning it can be difficult to understand the parameters and to mark them in English. Panasonic’s website does not have an English manual either.
Last time we suggested finding someone who speaks Japanese to help you translate what is and is not possible. But there might be another way. Are you familiar with the Google Translate application? Available on Android and iPhone, it uses your phone’s camera to translate between languages directly on your screen in real time. You can also take a picture of what you want to translate. So you can use it for the instructions and recipes of the bakery machine. If you have another idea for a solution, please let us know in the comments below.
Apart from the language, let’s talk about the characteristics. The Panasonic SD-BMT1000 has the same excellent fruit, nut and yeast dispensers as the SD-BMS105. Only the two cars we investigated are equipped with vending machines. They automatically release the fruit, nuts and yeast at the right time.
Both machines have a ridiculous number in terms of programmed settings The new Panasonic SD-BMT1000 has 34 , while the old Panasonic SD-BMS105 has 30. There’s not much difference. The menu parameters are listed on page 6 of the manual. In short: The Panasonic SD-BMT1000 has settings for bread, plain bread, sandwich bread, 60 minutes bread, rice bread, rye bread, wholemeal bread, brioche, bread arrangements (setting for melon bread), dough, chocolate, compote, urine, udon and noodles. All this can be found on the Panasonic SD-BMS105 website.
The Panasonic SD-BMT1000 for chocolate preparation takes 17 minutes. In the manual you will learn how to make milk, white and dark chocolate with the machine. You cook it in the car and leave it in the fridge. It’s a very cool story. Who knew a breadmaker could make chocolate? The manual is actually full of great recipes. We always find nice surprises here and there. We haven’t all been through that.
The decoration of the compote is unique. You can make a compote in about 90 minutes. The LCD menu is easy to use as soon as you change languages. For example, if you want to create a compote with the menu number 31, just select the number 31.
The menu setting we want to consider for the Panasonic SD-BMT1000 is Marble Bread. With the Marble Bread setting you can make trendy marble bread by adding ingredients such as coffee, green tea and chocolate (see video demonstration below). We used it to make coffee bread. You only add soluble coffee.
Panasonic SD-BMT1000 Dimension
- Bread quality
Japan seems to be an oasis for bakers, because many of the best baking machines such as this Panasonic SD-BMT1000 are sold there. The Panasonic SD-BMT1000 produces urine, udon, chocolate, compote, jam and of course quality bread – marble, wholemeal, rice, rye, baguette, normal bread and much more. What else do we have to say?
Panasonic SD-BMT1000: Specifications at a glance

In summary, the new version of the Panasonic SD-BMT1000 is very similar to the previous version of the Panasonic SD-BMS105, which we have taken into account. One of the main differences is that one is dark purple and the other is silver and white. In addition, the Panasonic SD-BMT1000 has 4 other menu settings, including Marbled Bread (No. 14), which allows you to make bread with twisted chocolate, green tea and coffee. This feature is good enough to guarantee an upgrade. But after all, they are both high-quality machines in their class. It’s hard to find other cars they can compare. If you find him outside Japan, take him with you.
